Sardinien – Korsika – Genua – Chiasso – Biasca

Once again, I am very happy about the puncture protection tyres. Here in the very
south of Sardinia near the lighthouse, I officially set off on an off-road track.
Mission: Head north! In the evening in Cagliari I eat a delicious ‘bueno cotta’ pizza.
There are numerous options for travelling around the island. I decide in favour of the west coast. The town of Bosa looks to me like a painting by Paul Klee.
The colourful houses flanked by the cathedral on the hill make for a magnificent sight.
After a few days with a tough headwind, I reach the northern tip Santa Teresa and take the ferry to Bonifacio.
Now in Corsica, I cycle along the east coast, which has far fewer metres of elevation gain than the central route through the mountains.
But unfortunately, with a lot of traffic.
Before catching the ferry to Genova, I explore the Capo
Corsica peninsula to enjoy the winding coastal road towards Tollari in the far north.
In Corsica, the locals speak their own language, which can be recognised by the signs in the villages.
These are labelled in two languages. The French version is usually painted over and illegible.
In Genova, with the Mediterranean behind me, I cycle upstream.
From Chiasso onwards, I benefit from the great routes in Switzerland’s cycling country.
Welcome home.
